Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps for Chemical Industry

Liquid ring pumps are positive displacement pumps. The impeller is installed eccentrically in the pump casing. When the impeller rotates, the working fluid is forced to form a rotating liquid ring of equal thickness along the inner wall of the pump casing. An "air cavity" is formed between the inner surfaces of the ring.

As the impeller rotates, the volume of the air cavity in the suction zone gradually increases, and its internal pressure drops, thereby sucking gas into the pump. On the contrary, the volume of the air cavity zone gradually decreases, and its internal pressure rises, thereby expelling the gas.

There are two types of liquid ring pumps: single-stage and double-stage. The working pressure of single-stage liquid ring pumps is 1000~150 mbar. When the inlet pressure is lower than 150mbar, the pumping speed drops sharply and the pumping efficiency is low.

The working pressure range of the two-stage liquid ring pump is 1000-30 mbar, and the pumping speed is still relatively high when the inlet pressure is low.

Liquid ring pumps are very suitable for the chemical industry, and their internal parts do not touch each other and do not need lubrication.

The working fluid of the liquid ring pump has two functions: one is for sealing, and the other is for cooling. The commonly used working fluid is water, and other fluids compatible with the process medium can also be used, such as low-viscosity oil, ethylene glycol, and other solvents such as toluene, xylene, methanol, ethanol, propane, butane, ethyl benzene, etc. These sealing liquids can use the full-circulation system to avoid environmental pollution.
