Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump Working Principle

Liquid ring vacuum pump is a positive displacement pump, and the impeller is eccentrically installed in the pump cavity. When the impeller rotates, the working fluid will be forced to form a rotating liquid ring of equal thickness along the inner wall of the pump cavity, so the two adjacent blades, the impeller hub and the liquid ring are formed. An "air cavity" is formed between the inner surfaces of the ring. As the impeller rotates, the volume of the air cavity in the suction area of the pump gradually increases, and its internal pressure drops, so that the gas is sucked into the pump. On the contrary, the air cavity is exhausted. The volume of the zone is gradually reduced, and its internal pressure rises, thereby expelling the gas.

There are two types of liquid ring vacuum pump: single-stage vacuum pump and double-stage vacuum pump. The working pressure range of single-stage liquid ring vacuum pump is (1000 ~ 150) mbar. When the inlet pressure is lower than 150 mbar, the pumping speed drops sharply, and the pumping efficiency is low. The working pressure range of the two-stage liquid ring vacuum pump is (1000-30) mbar, and the pumping speed is still relatively large under the condition of low inlet pressure.

Liquid ring vacuum pumps are very suitable for the chemical industry, where there is no mutual contact between internal parts and no need for lubrication. The working fluid of the liquid ring vacuum pump has two functions: one is for sealing, and the other is for cooling. The commonly used working fluid is water, and other fluids compatible with the process medium can also be used, such as low-viscosity oil, ethylene glycol and other process solvents such as toluene, xylene, methanol, ethanol, propane, butane and ethyl benzene, etc. , these sealing fluids can use a full circulation system to avoid environmental pollution.
